Has there ever been mention of a PW build that anyone would like to take on? Or is there one they are involved with now that they would recomend?

I'd be interested in trying one, too. Any recommendations?

Khalidine intrigues me. At least partly becase it's Grinning Fool's baby. I also like the web front end for submitting/tracking bugs. I'd love to have something like that for my project. |

Had a look at Khalidine, or the web site anyway. There doesn't seem to be any information about how to actually get to be a member, sign in, play the game, etc. Everything on www.khalidine.com seems to assume that you are already a member.

I haven't tried it (or any pw for that matter). But since GF basically wrote the autodownloader stuff in 1.23 I figure he knows what he's doing with coding.

I tried a few PWs last year, none of which grabbed me. I'd certainly try something recommended by this group.

To get into Khalidine, just hit on "connect" in Gamespy.

How DO you connect through Gamespy? I've never used Gamespy except through NWN2 Multiplayer. Can't find Khalidine on the web site. A search on gamespy.com came up "no results". I also tried nwn.khalidine.com but it would not connect. The Gamespy directions on khalidine.com don't appear on the Gamespy web site either.

Khalidine is in the Roleplay section.
I assume you did the following:
Start NWN2
Click on "Play"
Choose "Multiplayer"
Choose "Join Internet Game"
Select the "Roleplay" section
Select "Khalidine"
Choose "Connect" Edited by Banshe - 18 Jan 2010 at 8:23am |

OK, found it. Thanks. I kept looking for something in the PW categories. However, when I connected, I still wasn't allowed in. I got the screen with their welcome and introduction, but all it would let me do is cancel out. There were buttons for Create Character and Select Character, but they were inactive. I still think you need something from the Khaladine web site but I can't find what it is.

Well, I seem to be making some progress. It is a complicated process, though. So far, I've found the forums on khaladine.com and registered. I still get no options except to cancel when I try to connect. And I can't yet post to the forums. I'm registered, but an administrator must validate me and set permissions. When(ever) that occurs, I guess I can try to connect again. If that fails, at least I should be able to ask on the forum about what exactly you need to do. After I get validated, of course.

More progress! While I'm still not validated on the forums, I seem to be able to get in. My problem was not waiting long enough for downloads to complete. When I tried this morning, it took a good half-hour for downloading to complete and then I was able to access character creation. Hope I won't have to wait a half-our every time I try to play. I have to go and do other things now, but I'll report back on character creation (lots of custom choices here) and whether I was successful at actually reaching the first area.

Yep. That is the new autodownloader that many worlds use now. You have to wait for the files to download before you can get in. :)

Yeah, as I mentioned, the download took half an hour (well, almost) and that threw me. I've gotten in now, although I'm still not verified and apparently my forum password doesn't work yet. In that situation you just have to cancel and you're let into the game.
There doersn't seem to be much going on. I've found a couple of small quests, but I think I've been the only player while I've been on. There QWILL be a learning curve, but I hope to see some ToHT folks there sometime. My character at the moment is Herry Blake. |

Found out a few more things. Basically, once you join, you need to wait for a game to be organized with a DM. There are only a few quests in the initial village. Venturing outside without a group is NOT a good idea. I guess we'll have to wait and see if anything pans out. Apparently, not much is happening there at the moment, but there are hopes for things to pick up, hopefully soon.

Khalidine. Their latest blog is Grinning Fool is cutting back though since he's having a baby. Can't blame him. http://blog.khalidine.com/2010/01/future.html |

Trying to play... Everything works except you can't just go and play, you need to wait for a DM to run a session. There is an experience cap (although I was not able to get anywhere near that) after which you need to have your character approved by the administrators. All the areas except the starting village are designed for PCs above the experience cap.
I have a watch on their forum for a DM session coming up, but I think I may investigate another PW that has more you can do by yourself. |
